It's gettin' hot in here
By: Aldren Deinla, III- SPA
Before, the earth is like a paradise for every living things, but as time goes by, human race search for a higher level of living by means of technology. Men cannot achieve what they want and go beyond their limits. The result . . . a sudden changein climate.
A documentary film entilted " Inconvenient Truth" tells everything about how the earth is changing especially on climate. Studies show that the Greenhouse Gases are the reason behind the change in climate or Global warming. Chlorofluorocarbon(CFC) coming from refrigerators, airconditioners, and even electricity produce a tremendous amount of carbon dioxide making the earth very hot .These CO2 lessen the amount of ozone layers that protect the earth from ultaviolet rays from the sun. When these rays enter the surface of the earth, they are trapped making the earth warmer.
The effects of global warming can be seen by our naked eyes. Icebergs or glaciers from north and south pole are melting down to oceans, seas and to other forms of water. When the time comes that all the icebergs from the poles were melted, the amount of water will rise and years after, only the torch of the Statue of Liberty will be seen. Scientists says that only three meters of ice were melted, many parts of the globe will be erased including Philippines.
Based on researches, bodies of water are also affected by climate change. When the heat of the sun reaches the water, the tendency of the water moleculesis to bend and swell and the warm waetr goes up while the cold water goes down.
Animals are also good indicators of global warming. Koala's nomber decreases every year due to infertility. Analysts say that the sudden change of temperature caused the animals not to reproduce offspring.
Whew, the earth is really changing and... it's gettin' hot in here!.
